Toyota - Sliding reputation brings a meagre harvest

Toyota has been slipping down the rankings in China following its inability to adapt to demand in lower tier cities and political tensions with Japan tarnishing the brand.
Although Toyota performed relatively well in first tier cities where it ranked fourth after Buick, Audi and VW in our recent survey, it had slipped to joint sixth with Honda in second tier cities, and joint ninth with Mazda in third tier cities, where only 3% of respondents said they planned to buy the brand.
