Profits have come under pressure at the drug retailer from price ceilings on products under China's essential drug list.

Background:Headquartered in Shenzhen, China Nepstar Chain Drugstore (NPD:NYSE), is China's largest pharmaceutical chain with 2,559 stores, 40% of which are located in Guangdong province. The company's stores offer prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) pharmaceuticals, nutritional supplements and Chinese herbal medicine.
