China goes Green (No, Really!)
- Published 11 Jun 2009
New plans signal a big boost for clean energies.
History is sometimes made in an instant. At other times, it can take weeks, months or years for the significance of trends and events to become clear. Our bet is that at some time in the future, early 2009 will become tagged as the time that China got serious about saving its environment, and by extension, that of the planet. It is no longer just talking the talk, but genuinely walking the walk. The importance of this is hard to overstate. China is now on course, we believe, to become the world's leading harvester of renewable and clean energy sources and the biggest manufacturer of new energy technologies by 2020.
