Investors regain some confidence in Taiwan

Flows to Taiwan funds have seen a recent resurgence, while investor interest in China remains morose.
Investor interest in Taiwan funds has experienced a recent turnaround as hopes that the worst is behind the US restore confidence in the island – predominantly an export play. Taiwan funds posted actual inflows of $32.68m (Rmb 223.1m, €21.93m, £20.42m) over the last three weeks, following a long run of outflows since the beginning of June (Chart 2.4). Taiwan funds continued to outperform their China counterparts for the sixth consecutive week bringing their cumulative performance since January, as measured by net asset value (NAV), to 66.8% (Chart 2.1).
