China fund flows stall on signs of monetary tightening

China investors are taking their money off the table as they await the market reaction to new monetary tightening and the direction of policy in 2010.
China equity funds posted outflows of $65.9m (Rmb 450m, €46.8m, £40.9m) during the week ending January 20 while Brazil continued to see inflows (chart 1.1). Cumulative inflows to China equity funds over the last three weeks hit $284bn, right down from the $1.25bn in investor flows to Brazil (chart 1.2).
