When is the central bank going to raise interest rates?

  • Published 25 Mar 2010

Ba Shusong, deputy director of the Finance Research Institute of the Development Research Centre of the State Council, thinks the People's Bank of China (PBoC) is most likely to raise interest rates between April and June because inflationary pressure during this period could be at its 2010 height. He thinks inflationary pressure in 2H10 would ease somewhat compared with Q210. Generally speaking, he is optimistic about inflation level in 2010 and thinks inflation will not be a serious problem for the government.
