Chinese scholars debate China's ambitious pledge to cut carbon emissions by 40%-45% by 2020.
The United Nations climate change conference kicked off this week in Copenhagen, prior to which China pledged to reduce carbon emissions by 40%-45% by 2020, while the US has targeted a 17% cut over the period. Chinese scholars debate what role China will play at the conference and what agreements will be reached by other attending nations on emissions cuts.
