Energy price hike
- Published 22 Apr 2010
The ramifications of the recent rise in fuel prices are expected to span beyond a marginal increase in the consumer price index.
On April 14, China raised the price of gasoline and diesel by Rmb 320 ($47, €35, £31) per tonne. This was the first such price hike for five months, and is expected to add 0.07 percentage points to April's Consumer Price Index. Prices will go up Rmb 0.24 and Rmb 0.27 respectively at the petrol pump. A day later, it raised aviation fuel (kerosene) prices by Rmb 500 to Rmb 5,690 per tonne.
