Glorious Sun - Low-end jeans do well but premium Quiksilver brand falters

Glorious Sun is weighed down by declining sales in Australia and New Zealand, as well as by the poor traction of its premium Quiksilver brand. Jeanswest, the low-end casual brand, is more popular.

OverviewGlorious Sun Enterprises Ltd (0393:HKG) is involved in the retailing, exporting and manufacturing of casual wear in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, USA and Canada. The mainland is its major market, contributing nearly 70% of total revenues. Glorious Sun is one of the earliest casual wear manufacturers to have launched in the mainland market, giving it an entrenched presence. By end of 2009, the company had a total of 2,634 stores, up from 2,321 at the end of 2008, of which 1,348 were operated under franchised arrangements, up from 1,126 at year-end 2008.
