Midea: Ready for new energy saving standards

A significant proportion of Midea's air conditioner models meet new efficiency standards making it eligible for hefty subsidies.
Background:GD Midea Holding Co (000527:SZ), is a major Chinese white goods manufacturer specialising in air conditioners, for which it holds the biggest market share after the market leader Gree (000651:SZ). It also makes refrigerators, freezers and washing machines. The company has five production units across China, 8,000 distribution points and three overseas sales centres. Exports made up almost 30% of sales last year.
