The world's largest telecoms operator by subscriber number has come under pressure from its new rival China Telecom.
The world's largest telecoms operator by subscriber number, China Mobile (CHL:NYSE, 941:HKG), has had a tough time adjusting to the new competitive landscape that resulted from the industry consolidation in 2008. That restructuring brought a formidable new competitor in the shape of China Telecom (CHA:NYSE, 728:HKG), the fixed line leader, which moved into the mobile business by acquiring the Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) network from China Unicom.
