China zeal wavers
- Published 20 Aug 2009
China sentiment wavered last week as funds reduced their exposure to the country's equities and investors withdrew from China-related funds. Financial stocks look to have fared the worst.
Four consecutive weeks of robust flows to China equities reversed last week when EPFR Global reported that they posted actual outflows of $353.39m (Rmb 2.4bn, €250.6m, £215.6m) during the week ending August 12. Flows to other BRIC country equities, however, continued upwards at a steady pace (Chart 1).
