Stocks to the countryside
- Published 06 May 2010
Is it a good idea to entice rural China into playing the domestic stock market?
'Stocks to the countryside' is a new tag line circulating domestic media following a potential initiative to improve access to the stock market for rural Chinese. The China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) recently sent out a questionnaire to brokerage firms to garner their thoughts on the idea. Still, a recent online survey by web portal Sina.com showed that 71% of 23,551 participants opposed the idea in the belief that China's young stock market is too risky for rural participants who lack knowledge on the market.
