A second half rebound?

Economists debate whether China is en route to achieve its 8% GDP growth target.
Debate still ensues over the fate of China's economy in the second half. Gao Shanwen, chief economist of Essence Securities, is an optimist. He thought China is playing a leading role in the global economic recovery process thanks mainly to the government's economic support measures. Industries such as coal, construction materials and chemicals will benefit most from signs of a rebound in the property and automobile markets. China's financial sector and consumer goods industry will soon return to a healthy development path, he added.
