Farmers do better than urban 'mortgage slaves'

This year, Beijing will continue to push preferential policies for farmers while trying to stabilise property prices in major cities.

AgricultureAgriculture will remain at the fore of policy development this year. Both Hu Jintao, the president, and Wen Jiabao, the premier, used the first day of 2010 to get out to rural parts of Hebei and Heilongjiang province to tell farmers to expect more preferential policies in the coming months.
