The road ahead
- Published 23 Dec 2009
In this issue, we have gone some way towards predicting the outlook for 2010.
Trying to encapsulate a whole year in prospect is a daunting task indeed. Long-range predictions are almost always flawed, either in substance or in timing. Nevertheless, we have gone some way towards attempting them in this issue – more as an exercise in scenario comparison rather than through any conviction that our crystal ball is, well, crystal clear. Instead of mechanically mapping out our predictions for each aspect of the economy, we have tried – as always – to pick areas that we think are particularly interesting, underappreciated or in flux.
