Weakness persists into August

The evidence suggests that much of the weakness seen in July continued throughout August. Though there are some signs of life in the real estate sector, we continue to believe that, without substantial government action, a significant uptick in growth remains unlikely.

March survey points to weak post-holiday recovery

China’s freight volumes slid significantly during the first three weeks of February due to the Chinese New Year holiday, according to our latest survey of 200 logistics companies nationwide. A strengthening outlook suggests that activity will recover in the coming month, but our Freight Outlook Index remains below levels seen in late 3Q13 and early 4Q13.
